ABSTRACT

An ethnobotanical survey was carried out to collect information on the diversity of Wild Cucurbits (WC) and their medicinal uses by the aboriginals of Similipal Biosphere Reserve (SBR) forest. Total of 11 species belonging to 8 genera of WC were studied in the area. Fruits are the major plant parts collected by aboriginals, particularly Khardia, Mankardia and Ho. For use of diseases by these tribal communities, plant materials are prepared in the form of juice and pastes parts. Present work highlights the diversity and ethnobotanical values of some WC of SBR.
